Just enough spice
on my daily bread
to keep me thirsting.
Just enough discomfort
along this earthly life
to keep me groaning.
Just enough battles
throughout my earthly stay
to keep me fighting.
And just enough loss
of persons most beloved
to make me contemplate
that City to come -
Praying always that
Not once will I find
too much peace in this realm
till the Celestial Palace -
Fades from view -
Pleading constantly
To never love the ephemera
Till my Eternal destiny
becomes a secondary priority
Worrying always when
All love and praise my deeds,
And always demanding
To have those tests and trials
to keep me on my knees
In contemplation of that City - to come
