Hey, river! They say I am - strong
And they also say, I am - resilient
That like a rock when I knock
at the door, it hits so hard
they just have to open
But mind you, I cannot be
A mountain - it is tall
and stagnant. Yes, stagnant
It doesn't know what it means
to talk about winds and waves
Nothing is there to shake it,
Unless there is an earthquake
That is not quite
what life is all about
There are turns and downs and ups,
transpositions and changes -
Life is not an unmovable mountain
So I said that
I would like to be called a river
When I stand by the bank,
An image of me reflects
Through your waters
It is me inside there
And it is you inside here
River, you are not just
the peaceful melodies
You don't always dance in harmony
When the winds blow so high
and the waves raise you turbulently,
It smells death and you are in panic
You rise and shake as if
you were stabbed, then you go
pass your borders and flood the living
At that moment, you empty
your reservoirs and, it looks
like your history is wiped from the earth
But surprisingly, tomorrow
it rains and there you are, filled once more
The same rain can make you overflow
and flood the earth, but
you are never scared to accept it -
just one more time
Once more, you pace yourself
and restart playing melodies
that inspire the musicians
When waves come and bring tsunami
you lose the rhythm and it sounds threatening
But tomorrow you are back in your position,
Ready to live and rejoice again!
It is not about being strong,
Strength is nothing but the ability
To fall so low and be able to
stand back up again
When the past has knocked me so bad
It looks like it's determined my future,
It is that same past I should accept
to be determined by my future
Being able to try again, even after many attempt and failures. Great stuff HM
